What do you need to know for the first week of school?

Our school website is updated regularly with everything you need to stay connected to the school. On our website you will find our bell times and other helpful information throughout the school year.

School Supplies:
All school supplies are provided by the school for students' kindergarten to grade 4. For Grade 5 and 6 please see the supply list link. Students will be provided an agenda to record messages each day for parents to see.

Our School Handbook is in the front of the agenda. It can also be accessed online, along with other policies for cell phones, student expectations and behaviour, or information about medical needs or allergies: https://ecoleedwards.rockyview.ab.ca/our-school/student-handbook

Students will need to bring (please label with their full name):

  • A backpack, water bottle, weather appropriate clothing to play outside
  • Cold lunch and easy to open snacks for morning and afternoon (there is no place to warm up food)
  • Indoor shoes (kindergarten through grade 6)

First Week of School

We are kicking off the school year with staggered entry days to facilitate the transition for our students. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

  • Students with last names that start with A-L will come to school on Tuesday, September 2nd and not come on Wednesday.
  • Students with last names that start with M-Z will come to school on Wednesday, September 3rd, and will not come on Tuesday.

We will welcome all students on Thursday, September 4th.

What should you expect for communications from the school?

You are an important part of our team for your child’s learning and success! We want to ensure you get all information in a timely manner to participate and celebrate in our learning all year long. You can expect to receive and find information through:

  • TheEdwards Family Express is our school newsletter with photos, celebrations, updates, and a calendar of events – sent the first Friday of each month
  • Weekly classroom news and teacher updates about learning outcomes will be emailed to families every week.
  • Our school calendar, Facebook page, as well as X and Instagram are more ways to stay informed and up-to-date!
  • Our school website will have the most updated news and information

On-going safety measures at all RVS schools

The doors remain locked at Edwards throughout the day, and all late students and visitors must come through the main door to sign in at the office. In addition to this safety measure, we have a camera/intercom system in the school at the main entrance. All visitors and late students will need to be buzzed in as the door will be locked. This provides another layer of prevention to enhance safety in our school. We will continue to follow emergency protocols in line with RVS procedures.
